Timber Tubs

Twice the Natural Insulation of Standard Hot Tubs

Timber Tubs are the thickest traditional wooden hot tubs available on the worldwide market today!  Made from 100% clear, all heart, vertical grain western red cedar, Timber Tubs have a finished stave net thickness of 2-1/8″ and a finished bottom net thickness of 1-3/4″ which makes them considerably thicker than standard wooden hot tubs.

The extra thickness significantly adds to the life-span of the tub and virtually eliminates the possibility of the tub’s wood ever warping in the future.

Another great benefit for tub owners is that the extra thickness gives our Timber Tubs up to twice the natural insulating value of standard tubs which can save owners time and money.

Roberts Hot Tubs sells Timber Tubs in North America only. If you are located outside the US or Canada, please contact our UK distributor, Riviera Hot Tubs for more information or further assistance.

Timber Tubs

european_timber_tub5Our Timber Tubs are some of the thickest wood hot tubs available. Timber Tubs are a full 1″ deeper than average hot tubs and timber tubs are constructed with 2-1/8″ staves vs. standard hot tub staves of 1-3/4″.

The extra thickness significantly adds to the durability, life span and the overall natural insulating ability of the hot tub.

Our Timber Tubs are individually crafted from the finest and thickest, clear, all heart, vertical grain western red cedar available and are the hot tub of choice among European celebrities, rock stars and royalty!

100% clear, all heart, vertical grain western red cedar and a finished stave thickness of a full 2-1/8″ are just a few of the our Timber Tub attributes. The net finished thickness of the bottoms of our Timber Tubs is a full 1-3/4″, which makes them considerably thicker than most other wood tubs.

This extra thickness greatly adds to the life-span of the tub and virtually eliminates the possibility of the tub’s wood ever warping in the future. Most importantly, the extra thickness gives our tubs up to twice the natural insulating value of thinner tubs and the Timber Tub is the thickest traditional wooden hot tub available worldwide!

The tubs are supported by 4 x 6 chine joists and held together by 1/2″ steel bands that are roll threaded at each end. They come complete with a cast iron coupler, two stainless steel nuts and a unique polyethylene sheathing which protects the band from rusting or gouging the wood.

RHT Full Circle BenchThe unique benches of the Timber Tub are slatted and made from 1 x 6 clear, all heart, vertical grain western red cedar.

The seating area of a full size tub consists of four sections that, when assembled, form a perfect circle on the outside and an octagon on the inner side.

The bench is supported with 2′ x 4’s, which are attached solely to the sides of the tub. In order to give you, your legs and your feet plenty of room to move around with complete freedom, we build our benches in a “floating” style so that no part of the bench or support bracing ever touches the tub floor. No banging your feet or legs against wood posts or bench legs, just plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy your soak.

All benches come complete with stainless steel screws and hardware for fastening to the tub.  Timber Tubs are strategically packed in a “knocked down” fashion to allow for easy shipping and installation.

european_timber_tub12They can be installed in any location and come complete with an easy to understand and comprehensive step by step installation guide that allows both Do-it-Yourselfers and installation pros to confidently install tubs in a safe, long lasting and aesthetically attractive manner.

The only significant difference between the installation of a regular wood hot tub and a Timber Tub is the jet installation. Due to the thickness of the wood on a Timber Tub, the jets need to be countersunk on the outside of the tub. This is easily done with a router and a circular router bit.

Tip – It’s much easier to prepare the holes for the jets before assembling the tub.

Obtaining western red cedar of the quality and thickness that our Timber Tubs demand is extremely difficult and we only offer a few of our most popular standard sizes. Our standard Timber Tub sizes are 5′ and 6′ in diameter and 3′ to 4′ tall.

european_timber_tub3In addition to the standard sizes, we occasionally have a few Timber Tubs on hand that are slightly shorter than normal.

These “short tubs” come up as we accumulate wood shorter than required for standard sizes and rather than turn the wood into other products, we build short Timber Tubs and offer them for sale at a discount. Please feel free to contact us and inquire as to their availability.
